In my childhood there was a lot of “correcting” going on every day at home and at school. Most days I had the shit beaten out of me for the smallest thing. Corporal punishment in my country was still legal at schools up until 1990 when it was banned. I finished high school in 1987 when the teachers were still thrashing bad boys like me with a leather belt across our bare buttocks. I’m 55 now and still suffer from PTSD. I hope parents are aware of the trauma “correcting” their children causes.

It is interrsting how he starts out saying he doesnt remember killing his wife and kids but at the end of the scene he clearly remembers doing so with full intent.

1:11-1:13 somewhere, they in still in the Overlook hotel, but not sure which room they are in. Mr. Grady either got away with murder and died naturally years after "correcting" his wife and daughters or drank himself to death afterwards. Notice that pause at 1:44-1:55. Charles Grady axed his wife and daughters in the hotel and shot himself in the head decades later. Dick Holleran was the third party good guy who connected with Danny by mind. "Shining" That's my interpretation.

What i don't get is if Mr Torrence was always the caretaker then what was he doing in the photo at the end which certainly would not have had staff at that ball.
